Garden Muse

Garden Muse tells her story of growth, love, nourishment and inspiration. From afar she looks like a painting. It’s only when we look up close do we see images of women, babies, angels, butterflies and bees. She is made of hundreds of tiny pieces of paper I found in books and magazines that were glued on a 24”x 24” canvas. I truly loved creating Garden Muse and telling her story. She makes me smile every time I look at her. She’s confident, strong and important in our world. Actually, my daughter Zoe was the model for Garden Muse…. which is another good reason to smile!

Garden Muse’s is a metaphor for Mother Earth. She tells the stories of love, wisdom, strength, and much more. Not only is she an inspiration in the actual garden, growing magnificent flowers but she’s also an inspiration to growing children and other women in the world. Garden Muse is a guiding light, showing the way to her wisdom. She fosters growth and emotional encouragement, watching over her garden with love, care and wisdom. We know she is wise because we see the “bee which is often considered wise and holy with secret knowledge” sitting on her lips.

Garden Muse was chosen to be included in The Arts Council of Anne Arundel County’s “Gorgeous Gardens” on display at Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, between concourses C & D (pre-security) 7.18.24 - 11.12.24.
